In Bangladesh, eight individuals, including five members of the same family, were detained by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) while attempting to enter India illegally through the Birampur border in Dinajpur.

The arrests took place on Monday afternoon, approximately 100 yards inside Bangladesh territory from pillar 294/3-S at the Achintpur border with North West Bengal, reports Dhaka Tribune newspaper, quoting BGB officials.

The detainees are identified as Mongla Chandra, Ganesh Chandra, Sohag Chandra, Buda Chandra, and Bikash Chandra from Bogra district along with other three persons.

The BGB filed a police case against the eight detainees and five others who are currently absconding, at Birampur Police Station.

They were charged with attempting to illegally cross into India from Bangladesh and aiding illegal border crossing. Following legal procedures, the detainees were sent to Dinajpur Court on Tuesday,
