Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today chaired the seventh pre-budget consultation with representatives of trade and services in New Delhi to take suggestions for the upcoming general budget. The pre-budget consultation meeting was also attended by Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Chief Economic Adviser V. Anantha Nageswaran, Finance Secretary T.V. Somanathan, Secretary of the Department of Expenditure, Secretaries of the Department of Economic Affairs, and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Yesterday, Ms Sitharaman held a pre-budget meeting with representatives of trade unions and labour organisations.

Last week, the Finance Minister held a pre-budget meeting with the Finance Ministers of all states and Union Territories. She also consulted with representatives from farmer associations and agriculture economists. 

Earlier, she had held similar meetings with leading experts in the financial and capital markets sectors, industry leaders, and associations, as well as with leading economists.
