The Chairman of ISRO, Somnath said that the efforts are being taken to launch the first unmanned mission of Gaganyaan at the end of this year. In an interaction with the media at ISRO, he said that all the parts of the rocket have reached the Satish Dhawan Space Centre and it will be assembled so that the mission is ready for take off. Mr. Somnath said that sensors to check the extent of Gamma rays, the magnitude of the UV radiation, and cosmic ultra radiation will be measured to protect the astronauts in the human mission.

The Chairman said that work towards setting up of the Space Centre at Kulasekarapattinam, Tamil Nadu will be completed in a period of two years. Mr. Somnath said that the smaller satellites will be launched taking into account the location of the neighbouring Country. The Chairman said that India has the capability to produce any type of satellites at a much reasonable cost after successful testing. He said that the concept of technology transfer to the Industry will benefit the Country and its presence in the global arena of space Industry.
