Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today said that unconventional warfare has posed new challenges in the defence sector. He said, technology has given rise to this new form of unconventional warfare and drones, cyber warfare, bio-weapons, and space defence have emerged as key challenges. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said this while addressing at the launch of Dare to Dream 5.0 Innovation Contest in New Delhi.

Highlighting the government’s commitment towards innovation, Mr. Singh stressed the increasing importance of research and development in the defence sector. He said, as the world is witnessing changes, the significance of technology, and research and development is growing at the same pace. He said the government is dedicated to making the country’s defence sector more innovative and technology-oriented.

On the changing dynamics of conventional warfare, the Minister said, the arms and equipment are witnessing major changes today due to technology. He called for greater private sector participation in defence, urging a focus on both continuous improvement and disruptive technologies.

He congratulated the participants of the Dare to Dream initiative saying that when youth dare to dream of something new then a new path can be forged to achieve those dreams.
