External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar emphasized the need for global partnerships highlighting that the world is facing complex challenges at multiple levels. Addressing the gathering at the CII Partnership Summit in New Delhi on Monday, Dr Jaishankar pointed to the ongoing transformation in the global economy and stressed that tackling these challenges requires more than just individual national efforts. He said that it demands a collective approach.

Dr Jaishankar noted that, for over a decade, the world has witnessed a growing backlash against the existing model of globalization, with many societies feeling their capacities have been hollowed out and their quality of life is actually stagnating. Referring to the Ukraine conflict, US-China friction, and the brunt of inflation, debt, and currency issues in the Global South, Dr. Jaishankar stressed the need for more collaboration. Dr. Jaishankar also highlighted the growing strategic convergence between India and the United States, noting that the relationship between the two nations has deepened over time, creating more avenues for cooperation.

As India continues to strengthen its economic, political, and cultural footprint globally, Dr. Jaishankar emphasized the importance of expanding the country’s manufacturing capabilities to enhance its appeal as a reliable partner. He said that building a robust industrial base is key to positioning India as a global player in supply chains, innovation, and technology.  He also noted that the government’s focus on infrastructure and logistics improvements has already set the stage for this transformation.

Dr. Jaishankar outlined the strategic importance of India’s growing role in global supply chains, technology development, and industrial culture. He also highlighted the potential of India’s expanding diaspora.
