Cyclers will ride through the streets of Taipei every Wednesday until March 10 to commemorate the anniversary of the Tibetan uprising.

The Human Rights Network for Tibet and Taiwan (HRNTT) said “2025 Cycling for a Free Tibet” was launched in Taipei to show support for people oppressed in China. The rides are planned for Feb. 12, Feb. 19, Feb. 26, and March 5 in Taipei, and March 1 in Kaohsiung.

To close the event, the Taiwan Tibetan Welfare Association will hold a march in Taipei on March 9. On March 10, a candlelight vigil will be held at Liberty Square.

On March 10, 1959, 10,000 Tibetans took to the streets of Lhasa to defy Chinese occupation forces. Their uprising was suppressed, leading to almost 150,000 Tibetans going into exile overseas. HRNTT Secretary-General Tashi Tsering said the CCP’s suppression of Tibetans has not changed since 1959.
