Ireland Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science James Lawless said Ireland looks forward to meeting Indian Universities and educational institutes to explore avenues for expanding post-study pathways and fostering deeper research collaborations between nations. He emphasized that Ireland recognizes the immense potential of building a robust academic and talent ecosystem that benefits both countries.
Mr Lawless is currently leading a high-level delegation to New Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai to strengthen bilateral collaboration. He highlighted Ireland’s increasing partnerships with Indian firms in innovation, Research and Development, and emerging technologies, particularly in MedTech, fintech, AI, and life sciences. Underscoring the growing ties between India and Ireland, especially in higher education, technology, and business partnerships, the visiting minister noted that Ireland is home to a rapidly growing community of over 9 thousand Indian students. He reaffirmed Ireland’s commitment to strengthening educational links with India.
Lawless’ visit marks an important milestone in the Ireland-India relationship, reaffirming Ireland’s role as a trusted partner for India’s economic, academic, and technological ambitions. Earlier on Monday, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar extended greetings to his Irish counterpart, the government and the people of Ireland on their National Day.
