US President Donald Trump has expressed strong anger toward Russian President Vladimir Putin over the ongoing war in Ukraine.
In an interview with a news channel, Trump criticized Putin for questioning Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s credibility.
Trump warned that if Russia does not agree to a ceasefire, he will impose tariffs of up to 50 per cent on countries buying Russian oil. He also threatened a 25 per cent tariff on Russian oil and other goods entering the US if the war continues.
This marks a shift in Trump’s approach, as he had previously been seen as favoring Putin during negotiations. European leaders were concerned about his stance, but his recent comments signal a tougher position.
Despite his criticism of Putin, Trump said he still has a good relationship with the Russian leader and hopes for a resolution. He also hinted at considering a third term in the White House, even though it is unconstitutional.
Ukraine’s President Zelensky responded by accusing Russia of stalling peace efforts and called for a strong response from the US and its allies.
