Minister of Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today emphasised the significance of infrastructure development for the country and established a goal to expedite highway construction to a rate of 100 kilometers per day.

Addressing All India Management Association, AIMA, 10th National Leadership Conclave, he stated that within the next 18 months, the country’s road infrastructure will surpass that of the United States of America.

He noted that the rate of highway construction in the country reached a remarkable 37 kilometres per day during the year 2020-21.

He mentioned that the central government is engaged in infrastructure initiatives valued at one lakh crore rupees aimed at revitalising the national capital. Addressing the issue of traffic in metropolitan areas, he emphasized the necessity for more efficient and improved public transportation to alleviate the challenges posed by private vehicles contributing to traffic congestion.
