Stressing upon the unwavering dedication of security forces to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the J&K UT, The Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbagh Singh, on Tuesday emphasized that the security forces are committed to uproot terrorism from J&K.

He said that a peaceful atmosphere continues to prevail in Kashmir post the successful conduct of the Kokernag operation which occurred earlier this month.

Talking to media persons after inaugurating the Model Police Station at Katra in Jammu region, DGP said, “The security forces are committed to root out terrorism from J&K and are on the hunt to eliminate the remaining terrorists. This will happen soon for long lasting peace to prevail in J&K.”

The DGP paid rich tributes to the fallen heroes in the Kokernag encounter and appreciated the efforts of all the officers and Jawans who were engaged in the encounter. He said that J&K Police and the Nation is proud of these brave hearts.

In response to a question DGP said, “The situation is peaceful in Kashmir as it was prior to the Kokernag operation while it was the handiwork of some vested interests to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere and blow the Kokernag operation of proportion”.

“We gunned down dreaded LeT terrorist Uzair Khan and his associate. I am proud of our security forces who fought bravely in the operation as it was difficult to trace and locate the hiding terrorists in the dense forests with challenging mountainous terrain,” he said.

It is always an advantage for those who first open fire, while in Kokernag the terrorists opened the first fire leading to the killing of our three officers, DGP said.

Regarding the cross border sponsored Narco-terrorism, the DGP said, “ The menace has been in JK with complete backing of Pakistan and its agencies. However the operation against it has been further intensified to demolish it completely from the UT.”
