Aero India 2023 in Bengaluru showcases Defence capabilities as well as self-confidence of India: PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that Aero India 2023 in Bengaluru showcases the scope of defence industry as well as self-confidence of India. Addressing the gathering while inaugurating the biennial event, Mr Modi highlighted that Tejas, INS Vikrant, advanced manufacturing facilities in Surat and Tumkur, are the potential of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. He stressed that India has now started exporting defence equipment to 75 countries in the world.

Mr Modi highlighted the transformation of the defence sector in the last 8 to 9 years. He asserted that the aim is to take defence exports from 1.5 billion to 5 billion by 2024-25. He expressed confidence that India will take rapid strides to be included among the largest defence manufacturing countries. The Prime Minister called upon the private sector to invest in the defence sector which will create new opportunities for them in India and in many other countries.

AIR correspondent reports that India has proudly displayed its military might and indigenously built equipment and technology at the biennial air show.  LCA Tejas takes the centre stage in the India Pavilion. LCA Tejas is a single-engine, lightweight,  highly agile, multi-role supersonic fighter.  The aircraft is designed for air combat and offensive air support. It is one of the smallest and lightest aircraft in its class having excellent flight safety records.  The India Pavilion has become a huge draw for people who are eager to learn more about defence sector’s Make In India Capabilities.  

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared glimpses of the Aero India 2023 show being organised in Bengaluru in Karnataka. In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister said, Aero India 2023 showcased the strides India is making in defence and aerospace. It has brought together people from various countries who are showcasing their innovations, he said.

Sharing pictures on Twitter of his visit to the exemplary Karnataka Pavilion at the show, Mr. Modi said, the entire nation is proud of Karnataka’s rich contribution to the aerospace industry.
