Bhutan’s Prime Minister, Dasho Tshering Tobgay, concluded his official visit to India on Saturday, following a two-day trip that strengthened the longstanding ties between the two nations. During the visit, PM Tobgay participated in the inaugural Leadership Conclave of the School of Ultimate Leadership (SOUL), inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), PM Tobgay held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Modi, discussing key areas of cooperation between India and Bhutan. In addition, several senior Indian officials, including Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju, and Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita, called on the Bhutanese Prime Minister.
Addressing the audience at the SOUL Conclave in New Delhi, Tobgay referred to Prime Minister Modi as his “mentor and elder brother” and praised his leadership, which inspires him to work harder as a public servant.
“Prime Minister, my elder brother, every time I have the opportunity of meeting you, I am overcome with joy. Your Excellency, Prime Minister, my mentor, every time I meet you, I am inspired to work even harder as a public servant,” Tobgay said. He also conveyed warm greetings from His Majesty the King of Bhutan, adding, “Today is an important day in Bhutan as it is the birth anniversary of His Majesty the King. I am delighted to celebrate this auspicious occasion in India among friends led by the Honourable Prime Minister and all the distinguished guests here.”
The MEA emphasized the deep-rooted friendship and cooperation between India and Bhutan, describing the relationship as one built on trust, goodwill, and mutual understanding at all levels.
“The visit of the Prime Minister of Bhutan is in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between India and Bhutan, a hallmark of the special partnership,” the statement added.
