Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has embarked on a three day visit to Laos to attend the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus). During the meeting, he will also address the forum on Regional and International Security Issues.
The ADMM is the highest defence consultative and cooperative mechanism in ASEAN. The ADMM-Plus is a platform for ASEAN member states of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and its eight Dialogue Partners including India, US, China, Russia, Japan and South Korea. The ADMM-Plus Ministers have been meeting annually to bolster the cooperation between ASEAN and the Plus countries.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Mr. Singh is expected to hold bilateral meetings with participating counterparts from Australia, China, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, South Korea and USA. These meetings are aimed at further enhancing bilateral defence cooperation with these countries.
