Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to inaugurate 90 critical infrastructure projects

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to inaugurate 90 critical infrastructure projects tomorrow, developed by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) at the cost of 2941 crore rupees. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that the Defence Minister will inaugurate and dedicate these projects to the nation from Samba district of the Jammu division. The Defence Minister will physically inaugurate state of the art 422.9 meter long, Class 70 RCC Devak Bridge on Bishnah-Kaulpur-Phulpur Road in Samba district which is of strategic importance to Defence Forces and will facilitate speedy induction of troops, heavy equipment and mechanised vehicles to forward areas and will also boost socio-economic development of the region, while the other projects will be inaugurated virtually. Out of these projects, 11 have been constructed in Jammu and Kashmir, 26 in Ladakh, 36 in Arunachal Pradesh, 05 in Mizoram, 0$ in Himachal Pradesh, 02 each in Sikkim and Uttarakhand and West Bengal and 01 each in Rajasthan and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
 
The projects to be inaugurated by the Defence Minister encompass a diverse range of developments, with a focus on enhancing India’s border infrastructure along the northern and western borders. The projects include 21 new roads, 64 bridges, one tunnel, two airstrips, and two helipads. Among these, the Devak bridge on the Bishnah-Kaulpur-Phulpur road holds special significance in J&K as it forms an integral part of the 90 infrastructure projects initiated by the BRO.
 
The inauguration of these projects is expected to significantly boost connectivity and accessibility in the region. The Defence Minister will also attend prestigious North Tech Symposium – 2023 tomorrow to be hosted by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu at its Jagti campus from today to September 13, 2023, jointly with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) under the aegis of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). The highlights of the Symposium will be a grand exhibition boasting the latest products from over 200 industry participants, with special attention given to burgeoning startups. Additionally, there will be product unveilings meticulously crafted to cater to the distinctive needs of the armed forces. The Defence Minister, during his visit, which is very likely to be a two-day visit, may also visit forward areas to review the security situation.
