A drone carrying 498 g of heroin and one empty pistol magazine was intercepted on Friday afternoon in a farmer’s field in Raja Rai village of Punjab’s Ferozepur district, police and the Border Security Force said.
The China-made drone, “DJI MAVIC 3 Classic”, which came from the Pakistan side, was intercepted by 182 battalion of the BSF’s Joginder Chowki located in the Lakhoke Behram area, Superintendent of Police Randhir Kumar said.
It was a joint operation of the BSF and the Punjab police, which has registered an FIR against unknown people under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, the Arms Act and the Aircraft Act.
The BSF said in a statement that its troops activated counter-measures to neutralise the drone immediately after its interception. Around 2.40 pm, the troops recovered the fallen drone along with the contraband from the field of Gulzar Singh.
