The Indiaspora Forum for Good 2025 opened in Abu Dhabi, bringing together prominent global leaders of Indian origin from over 30 countries to discuss international cooperation and development. The event, running until February 26 and concluding in Dubai, highlights the growing influence of the Indian diaspora in shaping global policy and business.

Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance, emphasized the “eternal friendship and special relationship” between the UAE and India in his opening address. “This summit is an important platform for generating ideas and exchanging knowledge on major global challenges. Your participation reflects a strong conviction that our shared values and ideas can bind us together and help us address these challenges effectively,” he said.

A key highlight of the forum was the release of a comprehensive impact report showcasing the extraordinary growth and influence of the Indian diaspora in the UAE. The report traces the community’s rise from a modest 5,000 people in 1975 to 3.9 million today, underscoring its pivotal role in shaping the UAE’s economic and social landscape. It also details how the diaspora has become a key stakeholder in strengthening UAE-GCC international relations while gaining increased global visibility and influence. The report was compiled by the Boston Consulting Group.

The event features an impressive lineup of speakers, including FedEx CEO Raj Subramaniam, former tennis star Vijay Amritraj, UK House of Lords member Lord Karan Bilimoria, and Bollywood actor-philanthropist Vivek Oberoi. Cherie Blair, founder of the Cherie Blair Foundation, joins other global leaders in discussions spanning technology, healthcare, finance, and philanthropy.

Indian Ambassador to the UAE Sunjay Sudhir highlighted India’s evolving global role, stating, “India is reclaiming its place in the global order” through transformed foreign policy. The gathering reflects the growing influence of the Indian diaspora in shaping international relations within the GCC while expanding its global footprint.

Indiaspora, a nonprofit network of global leaders of Indian origin from diverse backgrounds and professions, is dedicated to inspiring the diaspora to be a force for good by fostering collaboration, community engagement, and social impact. As a nonpartisan platform, Indiaspora builds bridges between the global diaspora leadership and decision-makers in India.
