India has sent 2,200 metric tonnes of rice to Myanmar as part of humanitarian assistance. In a social media post, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, in line with India’s ‘Act East’ & ‘Neighbourhood First’ policies, India reaffirms its commitment to humanitarian assistance to the people of Myanmar. Myanmar has become the world’s deadliest country for landmine casualties, with a staggering 1,052 civilian casualties recorded in 2023 alone, surpassing all other nations. The situation is particularly dire for children, who account for over 20 per cent of the casualties.
