The IndiaAI Mission has selected eight Responsible AI projects in response to the Expression of Interest (EoI) issued under the Safe and Trusted AI Pillar. The Ministry of Electronics and IT emphasized that these projects recognize the need for robust safeguards to ensure the responsible development, deployment, and adoption of AI. These projects include the development of indigenous tools and frameworks, and establishing guidelines for ethical, transparent, and trustworthy AI technologies.
The IndiaAI has also issued an Expression of Interest to promote responsible AI projects across a range of critical themes. The ministry highlighted that these include Machine Unlearning, Synthetic Data Generation, AI Bias Mitigation, Ethical AI Frameworks, Privacy-Enhancing Tools, Explainable AI, AI Governance Testing, and Algorithm Auditing Tools. The Ministry noted that over 2,000 proposals were received from prestigious academic institutions, start-ups, research organizations, and civil society groups. Following a thorough technical evaluation, eight projects were selected.
