Indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection system KAVACH, which is instrumental in avoiding train accidents has so far been deployed on 1465 Route km and 144 locomotives on South Central Railway.

In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that presently, the progress of main items related to KAVACH on Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah corridors which is approximately 3000 Route km is underway. Indian Railways has also prepared a Detailed Project Report and Estimate on another 6000 railway Kilometers to install KAVACH.
