Millions of tourists visited Kashmir valley in 2023 and the numbers are rising daily. In 2022, the number of foreign tourists to the Kashmir valley was around 4000. In the first 6 months of 2023, it crossed 15,000. The government hopes that surge in numbers this year would surpass previous records. In May, a g20 meeting on tourism was held in Srinagar with a view to promoting J&K as an attractive destination for tourists for foreigners. With the numbers having exceeded expectations, now the government plans to carry out further promotion especially in southeast and west Asia and North America.
