A 10-year-old social media influencer from north Kashmir’s Sopore has been invited by the University of South Carolina to speak at an international forum hosted by the College of Information and Communications and the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) about the role and impact of social media on today’s youth.
Aqsa Masrat is among the social media influencers around the world who will be speaking at the forum virtually. Despite the fact that she was offered a facilitation service, she was unable to attend the event physically due to the non-availability of her passport.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir, Aqsa Masrat said that it is a proud moment for her to speak at the international stage, adding that this gives her a lot of happiness that her work is getting recognised not only by the people of Kashmir but also at the international level.
She is the only Indian influencer who will be speaking at the sessions. The sessions will be moderated by Kenneth Moton, a former ABC correspondent and 2004 graduate of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications.
“Prominent social media influencers, subject matter experts, and young people from all over the world are coming together at the University of South Carolina to discuss the role and impact of social media on today’s youth at an international forum hosted by the College of Information and Communications and the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization,” says the official website of the Carolina, USA.
Aqsa is the youngest influencer and content creator who will be speaking virtually at the session. Her mother described it as her greatest accomplishment, saying that speaking on this stage is one of her biggest achievements.
The 10-year-old started making videos for social media a few years ago, and now she has around 60K followers on her Facebook page. She is making content on various topics related to society and has received an overwhelming response from the general public.
