Navy Chief Dinesh Tripathi launches ‘Swavlamban 2024’ exhibition to promote indigenization

The third edition of the Indian Navy’s Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Seminar, Swavlamban – 2024, commenced today in New Delhi. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi inaugurated this two-day event at Bharat Mandapam. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will attend the Swavalamban tomorrow.

Our correspondent reports that Swavlamban – 2024 is aimed at promoting the innovation and indigenisation endeavours of the Indian Navy. Several companies and start-ups are participating in the Swavalamban 2024 showcasing products of niche technologies such as air and surface surveillance, autonomous systems in surface, aerial, and underwater domains, AI, and quantum technologies.

Speaking on this occasion, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi highlighted the contribution of young entrepreneurs in promoting innovation and research. He said, around 115 stalls have been set up by various agencies. He said the Indian Air Force, Indian Army, Indian Coast Guard, Border Security Force and others are participating in the event.

Speaking to Akashvani News, one of the participants Anshuman Chatterjee lauded the government’s Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) initiative. He described the unique features of the Naval Shipborne Unmanned Aerial System.

Over the last two editions of Swavlamban, the Indian Navy has received more than two thousand proposals from the Indian industry that have been converted into 155 challenges to facilitate the development of prototypes. This initiative has enabled collaboration with more than 200 MSMEs and startups under the Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) Scheme.
