Nearly 37 Lakh Participated in Independence Day 2023 Celebrations in Jammu and Kashmir

For India’s 77th Independence Day, nearly 37 lakh people participated in celebrations in Jammu and Kashmir. As per government sources, a record number of 36,85,106 people took part in I-Day 2023 celebrations across the union territory.

With Independence Day 2023, a new record has been set in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir where around 36.85 lakh people took part. Along with this, a total of 42,879 events were conducted right from the Panchayat level with a large number of people taking part.

I-Day-related events were also carried out in educational institutions, Patwar Khanas, Municipalities, Tehsils, and Block offices. Students, government employees, and even elected representatives took part.

In the spirit of independence, the events were also held in villages and towns to increase participation at all levels. Flag hoisting ceremonies were also conducted at all the Directorates, Divisional, and District offices of Jammu and Kashmir where thousands of employees were present and took part.

As per the data provided by the government, a total of 19,76,255 individuals participated in 23,163 celebrations held in the Jammu Division.

In the Jammu Division, the highest participation was seen at Rajorui District, where 3,95,916 people took part in 7756 functions followed by Kathua where 3,06,801 people took part in 1,317 events. In the Poonch district, 2,87,719 people participated in 4,060 celebrations and Udhampur had 2,58,830 persons celebrate Independence Day at 889 places.

Whereas, in the Kashmir Division, a total of 17,08,851 people took part in 19,716 functions held across the districts of the Kashmir Valley.
