A Pakistan court has sentenced 26/11 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed to 31 years in jail. The Anti-Terrorism Court has also ordered confiscation of all his assets. Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief was also fined 3 lakh 40 thousand Pakistani rupees. Hafiz Saeed has been sentenced in two FIRs registered by the Counter-Terrorism Department of Punjab Police.
The JuD chief was brought to the court from the Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore where he has been imprisoned since 2019 under strict security. Hafiz Saeed-led JuD is the front organisation for the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) which is responsible for carrying out the 2008 Mumbai attack that killed 166 people, including six Americans. This is not the first time that Saeed has been sentenced by the anti-terrorism court in Pakistan.
