In Punjab, the state health department, Punjab Police and Alliance India, an NGO have collaborated to tackle the drug menace.

Chairing a workshop, yesterday, State Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh emphasized the importance of women’s involvement in fighting drug abuse. He stressed the importance of rehabilitation programs to prevent youth from falling prey to drugs.

Special Director General of Punjab Police, Community Affairs Division, Gurpreet Kaur Deo announced that the Police would launch an outreach programme to engage with women and encourage them to support the fight against drugs. She said that women can be a powerful force in combating the menace and they would be empowered to take on this role.
