Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the three new criminal laws are the biggest reforms of the 21st century, and the government is trying to make the justice system people-centric and scientific. Addressing the All India Forensic Science Summit in New Delhi today, Mr Shah said the government is working to ensure that those seeking justice get timely justice and also the satisfaction of getting justice. He said, forensic science is very useful in strengthening the criminal justice system of the country. Mr Shah said, through this, the main objective is to create a safe and capable India. He said, if we have to provide timely justice and increase the conviction rate, then it is not possible without forensic science.
Supreme Court Judge Justice Rajesh Bindal, Chairman of National Human Rights Commission Justice (Retd.) V Ramasubramanian, Attorney General of India R Venkataramani also addressed the inaugural session of the Summit. Chairman Bar Council of India and Rajya Sabha MP Manan Kumar Mishra, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Chiefs of Investigation Agencies, and delegates from different countries were present on the occasion.
In a social media post, the Home Minister said that the Modi government is ruthlessly rooting out drug networks. He said that the country’s agencies have seized 300 kilogram of narcotics worth 1,800 crore rupees near the international maritime border. He added that this operation is an example of the success of the government’s approach to rooting out the evil of narcotics. The Home Minister noted that this seizure is another achievement to build a drug-free India. Mr Shah has also congratulated Gujarat Police and Indian Coast Guard on this major breakthrough.
